The CIO of Balsharaf Group speaks exclusively to Gigabit and Business Chief magazines.

Warehouse management has proven to be a key hurdle for many businesses but Balashaf Group believes it has found the solution with SAP’s innovation extended warehouse management (EWM) platform for its logistics business, Salasel Al Embad.

Taking its logistics operations to the next level, the system allows Salasel Al Embad to prepare for incoming and outgoing shipments effectively, so it can allocate the necessary manpower required for a specific job.

It also ensures the movement of goods based on ‘first expiry first out’ (FEFO), a logistics method whereby products which expire sooner are shipped first for consumption.

“The EWM system is a much more scientific approach to warehouse management. It's not relying on a gut feeling,” said Sajid Riaz, Chief Information Officer.

“The accuracy of the EWM system is very high and I think this brings a competitive advantage to you as a 3PL service provider. It certifies you’re selecting the right quantity of products with the right expiry date and that they’re delivered on time with the planning offered by EWM.”
