This month, Business Chief MEA contain an in depth feature on the Saudi Telecom Company Academy, centred around an in depth interview with Dr Moudhi Aljamea, General Manager of the Digital School at the STC Academy.

“I come from a very technologically-oriented family. Because I have this mixture of technical and academic backgrounds, I found the idea of working in a corporate academy very interesting,” Aljamea remembers. “I think it’s a known problem that there’s this gap between academia and industry. Working at the Academy presents the opportunity to do both at the same time and help fill this gap, which is exciting.”

With headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Telecom Group is the largest in the Middle East and

North Africa based on market cap. STC was established in 1998 and currently counts about 100mn customers worldwide. It focuses on providing services to customers through a fiber-

optic network that spans 158,000 kilometers across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

The STC Academy was established in 2018 to provide STC’s leaders with cutting edge learning experiences that focus, both on the latest in AI, cybersecurity, cloud and data, and also the adaptable mindset that supports success in the future.

As General Manager of the Digital School in the STC Academy, Aljamea is at the centre of a digital operation that will have a perceptible effect on the Saudi telecommunications space for decades to come. Magazine Editor Harry Menear sits down with Aljamea to discuss her role in reinventing the culture of the Kingdom’s largest telco.
